Monique Pean's jewelry

Friday, September 26, 2008

We just saw the newest collection from one of our favorite jewelry designers, Monique Pean. This season Monique collaborated with Charity: Water, an organization dedicated to building water wells and bringing clean water and basic sanitation to impoverished communities in developing countries. The "Charity: Water" fine jewelry collection draws inspiration directly from the water purification process. Monique Pean combines recycled gold with conflict free precious stones and diamonds to create luxury that is making a difference. Each piece is handmade and unique. The collection moves between browns and blues, to glistening clear colors, reflecting the fluid elegant beauty of water. 10% of the proceeds of each jewelry piece will be donated to Charity: Water. Can't wait to wear it!

Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Last night Narciso showed the best collection of New York Fashion Week. His confident, sleek and modern warrior dresses with daring cutouts, acid green embroidery, black and white abstract ninja print with fuschia straps were flawless. More prints, more color, more skin than ever before. Narciso aced feminine power dressing with finesse.

Peter Som Spring 2009

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Peter Som mixed it up today. He started off with lots of neutrals- some popping like this great sequined tank with striped pants. But he quickly moved into more joyful territory: blue mixed with purple and black, fuchsia mixed with peach and orange, and teal mixed with royal blue and aqua. It all added up to a slightly new sexier direction in a cheerful palette.

Thakoon Spring 2009

Lots of strong ideas: bondage dresses, twisted noir prints of eyelashes, lips, and roses, plus pleated colorful masterpieces like this purple and red number. Thakoon stretches himself every season- always with an explosion of ideas that are firmly establishing him among the top talents in New York.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2009 fashion show

Monday, September 8, 2008

It was the return of the 80's at Proenza Schouler tonight: super sexy Helmut Newton-esque biker babes in black leather with exposed zips, sexy hammer-time harem pants, and best of all full-on sequined jumpsuits! Simply irresistible.

Tuleh Spring 2009 fashion show

It was Bryan Bradley's 10 year Tuleh celebration- and it didn't disappoint. The colors, prints, and outfit combinations were all as masterful and wacky as ever. From the flamenco blouses to the print bellbottoms and chiffon gowns - we were swooning. And we imagine all those fictional and non-fictional characters he named the outfits after are as pleased as punch as well.

Elise Overland Spring 2009

Last night Elise Overland showed a super-cool girl collection for Spring. Slinky, silky fabrics soften the usual tough tomboy rocker-edge. Elise casually turns silk charmeuse into daywear and leather into cocktail attire. This is the dream look for a sophisticated urban night owl. One of my favorite shows so far!

Alexander Wang Spring 2009

The Alexander Wang girls are the new, downtown, Indie insiders. This is the best new look of the young city sleek chic from SoHo to Greenpoint. For Spring Alex added some summer sorbet colors to the mix and played with Miami Vice references (double breasted pastel blazers) and 80s workout wear (cropped midriff tees). A cult is born.
